CHOOSE YOUR SYMPTOM

Every niggle
has a reason.

These are the most common ways patients describe what's happening to them. Find the one that's closest to how you feel and go to the corresponding treatment page.

🦷

I have a really bad toothache

Intense, persistent dental pain usually comes from an infection or an inflamed nerve. If it's sharp or comes with swelling, don't wait.

🩸

My gums bleed when I brush

Frequent bleeding is the first sign of gingivitis. The sooner it's treated, the easier it is to reverse before it progresses to periodontitis.

💥

I've broken or knocked a tooth

A broken fragment or a tooth moved by a knock needs assessing as soon as possible, especially if there's pain or bleeding.

❄️

My teeth hurt with cold or heat

Dental sensitivity can be due to worn enamel, receding gums or the start of tooth decay. A check-up identifies the exact cause.

😖

My jaw hurts or clicks when I open my mouth

Clicking, jaw tension and headaches on waking are often linked to bruxism or a temporomandibular joint disorder.

🦴

My wisdom tooth hurts

It could be erupting, impacted or infected. Not every wisdom tooth needs removing: it depends on its position and the space available.

↔️

I can feel a tooth moving

In an adult, a loose tooth almost always points to bone or gum loss from advanced periodontal disease. The sooner it's treated, the more teeth are saved.

🪥

I'm missing teeth or my denture doesn't fit well

Implants replace the root of the lost tooth. If several teeth or a whole arch are missing, there are immediate-loading solutions in 24 hours.

📐

My teeth are crooked or badly positioned

Poor alignment makes daily hygiene harder and can wear teeth unevenly, as well as affecting the look of your smile.

I don't like the colour or shape of my teeth

Stains, discolouration, worn teeth or gaps between teeth have different solutions, from whitening to veneers.

🧒

My child has tooth decay or is scared of the dentist

Baby teeth need looking after too: untreated tooth decay can affect the permanent tooth underneath. In our consultations we also work on dental fear from an early age.

Go as an emergency if you have intense pain that doesn't ease with your usual painkiller, swelling in the face or gum, a tooth broken or moved by a knock, or bleeding that won't stop. If the discomfort is mild or intermittent, such as occasional sensitivity or a slight niggle, you can book a normal appointment and describe the symptom so we can see you according to how serious it is.
No. An anti-inflammatory can ease the pain temporarily, but it doesn't remove the cause: an infection or an inflamed nerve doesn't go away on its own and can get worse within days. If the pain fades by itself, that doesn't mean the problem has been solved; sometimes it means the nerve has died and the process keeps progressing painlessly until an abscess appears.
Bleeding when brushing is the first sign of gingivitis, an inflammation caused by plaque. At this early stage it's reversible with good hygiene and a professional clean. If it's ignored for months or years, it can progress to periodontitis, which does destroy bone and gum irreversibly. The sooner it's treated, the easier it is to reverse.
It's a real dental emergency and time matters: hold it by the crown, never by the root, and keep it in milk or saline solution while you go straight to the clinic. Full step-by-step first-aid guide on Dental Emergencies.
Yes, it's common. For example, an inflamed gum can coincide with sensitivity to cold, or an aching wisdom tooth can also affect the tooth next to it. At the first visit we assess the whole mouth, not just the symptom that bothers you most, and we order treatments by clinical priority.
Call us and describe what you're feeling in your own words: where it hurts, since when and whether anything triggers it (cold, chewing, at night). With that information we'll point you to the right specialist, and if it needs an in-person assessment, the first visit is completely free.
