What you can't see
can cost you
your teeth.
Plaque forms within 24 hours. If it isn't removed daily, it mineralises and turns into tartar, a hard deposit that only the hygienist's ultrasonic instrument can remove. Tartar below the gumline inflames the gums, destroys the bone that holds the teeth in place, and leads to periodontitis. Unlike tooth decay, periodontitis doesn't hurt until the damage is irreversible.
Five services.
One priority.
Every mouth is different. At Dentaláser we design a preventive plan tailored to you, adapted to your oral condition, your age and your hygiene habits.
FLAGSHIP TREATMENT

Supragingival scaling removes the tartar that builds up above the gumline using low-frequency ultrasonic instruments. Painless, with no bleeding in healthy gums. The aim isn't just to clean: it's to examine, detect and prevent before tooth decay or periodontitis can progress.
PREVENTION
Preventive fluoride treatment
Preventive fluoride treatment
Professional fluoride varnish or gel strengthens tooth enamel and reduces the risk of decay. Recommended for children, teenagers, patients with dry mouth, active orthodontic treatment or a sugar-rich diet. The treatment takes 4 minutes and its effects last for months.
CHILDREN'S PREVENTION
Fissure sealants
Fissure sealants
The pits and fissures of the molars are where most childhood cavities begin. Resin sealants fill in these grooves, closing off access to bacteria. Painless, with no drilling, and lasting 5 to 10 years.
DIAGNOSIS
Periodontal diagnosis
Periodontal diagnosis
We measure the depth of the gingival sulcus around every tooth with a graduated probe. Pockets deeper than 3 mm indicate active periodontitis. Early diagnosis allows treatment with scaling and root planing before irreversible bone loss occurs.

Using disclosing tablets, we pinpoint exactly where your brushing technique is falling short. The hygienist shows you the correct method in person, recommends the right products for your case and sets a realistic routine. Not everyone needs the same thing.
Baby teeth
also matter.
A cavity in a baby tooth can damage the permanent tooth growing just beneath it. Children who visit the dentist from an early age have less fear as adults and keep their teeth in better condition. Here's what we do at each stage.
As soon as the first baby incisor erupts, we recommend a first familiarisation visit. No instruments, no fear. Just getting to know the clinic, so the child understands that the dentist is a friend.
Until around 8-9 years old, children don't have the manual dexterity to brush properly on their own. Parents should check or finish off the brushing every night. We recommend fluoride toothpaste from the first tooth, a rice-grain-sized amount up to age 3 and a pea-sized amount after that.
The first permanent molars erupt at around age 6. They are the most important teeth in the mouth and the most vulnerable. We seal them before any decay can appear, protecting them from day one.

Adolescence is the stage of highest risk for tooth decay: an irregular diet, more independence and often poorer hygiene. Annual check-ups with professional fluoride treatment and reinforcement of good habits are especially important between the ages of 12 and 18.

The right frequency
according to your risk.
Not everyone needs to come every 6 months, and not everyone can wait a year. After your free first check-up at Dentaláser, we'll tell you the exact interval for your case.
See details
Smokers, diabetics, those with a history of periodontitis or a strong tendency to build up tartar. Six-monthly cleaning stops tartar below the gumline reaching a critical depth between visits. With braces, the interval is adjusted to every 3-4 months: the appliance makes daily hygiene harder and encourages plaque to build up around the brackets.
See details
For most adults with healthy gums, good brushing technique and good plaque control, an annual cleaning combined with a preventive check-up is enough to maintain long-term oral health.
See details
Patients who have completed active periodontal treatment (scaling and root planing) need an intensive maintenance programme during the first year. After that, visits can be spaced out to every 4 or 6 months depending on how the gums respond.

Does dental cleaning hurt?
Professional dental cleaning is painless for most patients. You may notice slight sensitivity during the ultrasonic scaling in areas with a lot of tartar or already-inflamed gums, which goes away within 24-48 hours. If you're particularly sensitive, let us know before we start and we'll adapt the technique. There's no reason to avoid cleaning out of fear of pain: the longer you leave it, the more uncomfortable the next one can be.
What does the free check-up include?
The free annual check-up includes a full clinical examination of all your teeth and gums, an assessment of your periodontal condition with a graduated probe, detection of possible cavities or soft-tissue lesions, a review of any existing fillings and prostheses, and personalised hygiene advice with a technique demonstration if you need one. If a problem is found, we'll explain it to you and agree on a treatment plan with no obligation to go ahead.
At what age should children first see the dentist?
The first visit is recommended when the first baby tooth appears, at around 6-12 months, and never later than the first birthday. After that, annual check-ups. Baby teeth matter: the bacteria that cause decay are passed from parents to children, and a cavity at age 3 can damage the permanent tooth growing just beneath it. Getting children used to the clinic from an early age also removes the dental fear that many people carry into adulthood.
How can I improve my hygiene at home?
An electric or manual toothbrush with correct technique for a full 2 minutes, twice a day. Floss or interdental brushes every day: a toothbrush can't reach the surfaces between teeth. Fluoride mouthwash at night, without rinsing with water afterwards. Cut down on how often you have sugary and acidic foods between meals, since they are the main fuel for Streptococcus mutans, the bacterium responsible for tooth decay. On your next visit, the hygienist will do a personalised demonstration with disclosing tablets.
How often should I go to the dentist for a check-up?
The general recommendation is an annual check-up for adults with no active problems and professional cleaning every 6-12 months. If you have periodontitis or tend to build up tartar quickly, the hygienist will recommend a more frequent schedule, usually every 3-4 months. At Dentaláser the first check-up is always free, with no obligation.
What does a professional dental cleaning at Dentaláser include?
Professional cleaning includes removal of tartar above and below the gumline with ultrasonic instruments, polishing surfaces with a rubber cup and abrasive paste, removal of stains from coffee, wine or tobacco, irrigation of periodontal pockets if needed, and a fluoride application. At the end, the hygienist gives you personalised hygiene guidelines to maintain the result at home.
Can gum disease be cured?
Periodontitis can't be cured in the sense that lost bone doesn't regenerate on its own, but it can be fully controlled. With the right periodontal treatment (scaling and root planing) and regular maintenance every 3-4 months, the disease is halted and the teeth can be kept for decades. Early diagnosis is key.
Why do my gums bleed when I brush?
Bleeding gums are the first symptom of gingivitis, an inflammation caused by a build-up of plaque along the gumline. Far from being a sign that you should brush less, it means you need to brush better and add interdental floss. If the bleeding continues for more than two weeks despite good hygiene, it can indicate periodontitis, and it's important that you come and see us.
Do children also need professional cleanings?
Yes. The first cleaning is recommended once the child has all their baby teeth, usually between ages 3 and 5. After that, annual check-ups and cleanings. On permanent teeth, we apply fissure sealants to protect the areas most vulnerable to decay. At Dentaláser your child's first check-up is completely free.
